Winter
mountaineering, snow and ice climbing.
Winter is a truly great time to be on the mountains: white capped peaks
with beautiful clear skies; crisp snow underfoot crunching with every
carefully placed step.
Winter is also a very serious time to be in the mountain environment,
and special mountaineering skills and judgement are required for a
safe ascent and efficient and safe descent of the winter mountains.
Join us to learn the basics, the intermediate skills and when ready,
the more advanced skills such as snow and ice anchors, terrain awareness,
route finding and choice, mixed climbing tuition and avalanche awareness.
Advanced
Ice climbing, 1:1 ratio or 1:2 guiding, ski-mountaineering, cross
country and Nordic ski courses are also available on request.
These
courses are usually run in the Glencoe, Fort William area, or the
Cairngorm's, in the Scottish Highlands when winter conditions allow.
