Rock and Ice is certified by the AALA (Adventure Activities Licensing Authority) to perform the following activities:

Coasteering
Gorge Scrambling
Tyrolean Traverse
Hill Walking & Mountaineering
Summer conditions only.

The AALA recognises that other activities which do not come within scope of the AALA Regulations 1996.

Richard Hogan is also certified to provide specified adventure activities to young people under the age of 18 years.

About Rock and Ice.

Adventure climbingRock and Ice is a company owned by Rich Hogan MIA. Richard is 42 and has been instructing and teaching climbing skills for over 17 years.

Rock and Ice courses are very different to the standard courses available through outdoor centers as we aim to tailor the timing and nature of the course to your needs, rather than expecting you to fit in with a large group with mixed abilities which may hold you back or push you to quickly.

These courses are primarily aimed at those preferring small group or 1:1 ratio tuition in serious outdoor adventure skills, such as lead rock climbing, caving, mountaineering, sea cliff climbing, scrambling and winter skills and alpinism.
Introductory courses for total novices are one of our specialities.

All our instructors are fully qualified, mature and experienced rock climbers and
mountaineers who are fully active in the sport in which they teach.

Rock and Ice have been featured in The Times, The Daily Mirror, The Sunday Express magazine, FHM Magazine,The Derby Telegraph on Central Television and recently on Channel 4 as technical support for the drama/documentary 'Falling Apart'.
